Every entrepreneur is one bad stretch away from a blowout. Not the kind you can patch up quickly — I'm talking about a health collapse, a family crisis, and a business unraveling all at once. I've seen it happen. I've watched people never recover. And the scariest part? Most of the time, the signs were there long before the blowout hit.
Blowouts don't happen overnight. They build quietly. Late nights, skipped workouts, fast food on the go, ignored stress. Then one day, it compounds. The body shuts down. The marriage cracks. The deal pipeline dries up. The whole house of cards caves in.
Here’s the truth: being healthy is expensive. Being unhealthy is more expensive. And ignoring it altogether? That’s fatal.
The easy button — stimulants, booze, quick fixes, “hustle harder” culture — is the path to collapse. Because while it feels like fuel in the moment, it’s actually draining your reserves. It’s stacking debt you will eventually have to pay.
I know because I’ve walked close to that line. The wake-up call for me wasn’t a dramatic collapse, it was realizing I couldn’t afford another one. I had already lived through seasons of burnout, and I knew another full-scale blowout would take me out of the game for good.
So I made a choice: pay now, or pay later.
For me, that meant a complete reversal in behavior and habits that optimized my health and made it a priority over everything else. This included but wasn’t limited to: hiring a private doctor (not primary care doctors after several failed attempts), a gym membership and heavy lifting routine, basic hormones and supplements that majority of Americans are deficient in, detailed bloodwork, and boring single-ingredient foods that fueled me instead of drained me.
It meant thousands of dollars a year, yes. But it was cheaper than losing years of my life, my business, and my relationships. I’m 41 and feel 25 because I was proactive and did not let the upside-down world we live in get to me anymore.
The ROI on health is higher than any building I’ll ever buy. Because without health, there is no business. Without energy, there are no deals. Without clarity, there is no leadership.
If you’re an entrepreneur reading this, you need to hear me: blowouts are preventable. You don’t have to suffer one to wake up. You don’t need to “learn the hard way.” You can choose to build systems now that keep you from the brink.
✅ Move your body daily.
✅ Fuel it with food that actually nourishes you.
✅ Get your blood tested. Fix the deficiencies.
✅ Build a routine that sustains energy, not drains it.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about staying in the game. Blowouts end careers. Systems extend them. Choose wisely.
